Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) is an occasional rapid heart rate. "Paroxysmal" means from time to time.
That's what I had...or I think I had...
This is what happened...
I was at work...not that extreme busy...manageable...had my tea break...then I was standing around the nurses station, listening to my charge nurse and doctor discussing about patients when I felt like I'm making quite a great effort trying to catch my breath...palpitations as well....so I thought, oh here we go again...I'm so unhealthy...so I decided to take my pulse and it was racing away....and I thought again...must be kinda dehydrated....hey there's an empty bed...let me hooked myself on the cardiac monitor...thinking my heart rate is probably 110-120beats with a normal rhythm...guess what?? my heart rate was 145-155beats and looks like PSVT!!...
I'm so shocked...I had to confirm this with my seniors and soon, everyone was worried and fussing over me till they rushed me to A&E without doing an ECG first. So by the time I'm in A&E, my heart rate has slowed down and in normal rhythm. Blood results were fine and Chest XRay was fine.
So went to the cardiology clinic the next day. All were fine. Of course!! Should have done that ECG first...dammit!! hehehe...anyway...will be fitted a "pager-like" device for 7 days to see if can capture any abnormal heart rhythms... so this device will follow me to Liverpool and Portsmouth and Dublin!!...since my fiancee will be in London during the time that device is fiited on me...heehee...
I dun wanna get worried or think about the device or what d result will be... I just wanna enjoy my fiancee's company for that two short weeks... :)
P.S. About a week more to go!! Weeeeee....
